As part of Matalan’s fundraising campaign in partnership with Alder Hey Children’s Charity we’re launching a competition to celebrate.

Now, most of us will remember S Club 7’s ‘Reach for the Stars’ as a staple at every school disco in the 00’s, but this year, it has been re-recorded to raise money for the children at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. The acoustic version, led by 13-year-old Grace Lee, a former patient of Alder Hey and Lauren Clarke, a Matalan employee, also features the Alder Hey Matalan choir.

Matalan originally pledged to raise £1.5m over 5 years, but last year’s ‘Get Spotted’ campaign took the total to well over £2 million. 100% of profits from CD sales and downloads of the latest charity single from this year’s ‘Superstars’ campaign will increase this total even further!

The money raised through this campaign will be used by Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to fund a range of activities and projects designed to enhance and improve the hospital journey for patients and their families. This includes supporting projects such as ward chefs and play specialists, research, development of their new healthcare campus and immersivedigital distractionin treatment rooms that can reduce pain and anxiety for patients.

Campaign ambassador, Scarlett Moffatt, also visited the hospital this year for a PJ Party to celebrate the partnership – hospital ambassadors, patients and their families all gathered to hear a special performance of the single and enjoyed a story ready by Scarlett.
